The Helicopter Service of the Republic of Srpska carried out humanitarian and rescue missions due to heavy snowfall

Due to heavy snowfall that affected the Republic of Srpska, the Helicopter Service conducted a series of humanitarian and rescue missions in inaccessible areas. Snowdrifts have cut off many locations, threatening the lives of residents without access to basic necessities and medical assistance.

The operations were carried out using Bell 206 and AgustaWestland 119KX helicopters, with the support of a trained rescuer from the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska.

The Bell 206 helicopter delivered aid packages to:

• Mrkonjić Grad: Villages of Vulini and Stojići
• Banja Luka: Lokvari and Donji Drinić
• Oštra Luka: Residents received food, water, and medicine

Rescue operations with the AgustaWestland 119KX helicopter:

• Lokvari, Manjača: A mother and her 8-month-old baby in critical condition were evacuated to the Clinical Center of the Republic of Srpska
• Agino Selo: A man whose house roof collapsed was evacuated
• Bastasi: A patient with frostbite, pneumonia, and panic attacks was transferred to the Clinical Center of the Republic of Srpska

The Helicopter Service of the Republic of Srpska has once again confirmed its crucial role in emergency situations by providing essential support to residents of the most affected areas. With quick response and coordination with local authorities and medical teams, the rescue teams were able to reach those in need and provide them with much-needed help.

Although the operations were successful, the situation on the ground remains complex. Many roads are still blocked, and a large number of villages are still awaiting assistance. The Helicopter Service continues its humanitarian and rescue activities until all those in need are taken care of.
